💡 5 Pro Tips to Consider

1. What is your goal?

Whether you’re remodeling your forever home or just updating to put the house on the market, making sure your goals are in alignment with your choices is an important aspect of your remodel.

Thinking long term will affect the choices you make with your remodel. If this is your forever home, then you’ll want to make design and color choices that appeal to exactly what you prefer. No need to think about whether someone else might approve of your design and color choices. On the other hand, if you know you will probable sell the house within the next 3-7 years, then you will want to take into consideration what other people may or may not like.

Regardless, a safe choice is always neutral colors like beige, white, or grey for permanent aspects like floor tile, backsplash tile, countertops and cabinets. Paint is a simple change so feel free to choose what you like now, as it can always be changed in the future.

3. Choosing the right contractor…

Licensed or unlicensed? Does the contractor sub the work out or have people who work with him consistently? How many jobs at one time does the contractor work on? Does the contractor have great reviews on platforms that matter? Does the contractor communicate regularly?

All these are important things to consider when hiring a contractor. Be sure to ask the questions that matter to you so you will feel comfortable moving forward with that contractor.
